Ford should offer the Mustang with the 1.0l Ecoboost engine. Tell me why this isn't awesome.

I drove a 4cyl Fox body once. There’s nothing as pathetic as an underpowered Mustang.

With a brougham-y vinyl roof and wire wheel covers. They could call it the Mustang II...II.

I'll see your Mustang and raise you an Iron Duke Camaro.

It'd be the perfect hairdresser car. Especially in a city where power is totally meaningless.

I think they could go as low as 1.6. 1.0 is entertaining but a bridge too far.

The dark ages of muscle cars having one slow crappy option and one fast (but still kinda crappy, lets be honest here) option are over. You are not taking us back there.

Why not a turbo diesel variant?

Because the Mustang is too heavy for the 1.0. They could probably do the 1.6 though...

I’m sure that there is a 1.0 Fusion/Mondeo.

There is in Europe.

I would seriously consider buying one of those. Don’t think the 1.0 has ever been mounted longitudinally though.

‘cos there’s nothing like walking up to (what was then) a pretty sharp-looking car, and finding this wheeze-box under the hood:

Similar weight to the stang ecoboost, but a 1.0 stang would be even lighter.

I am sure the 1.0 Mondeo is poverty spec and hated by almost everyone who drives the, except the little old ladies/men who like all the space.

I didn’t say it was a good idea. It will be circa 11 seconds to 60. Now if the stang was smaller, much lighter and named Capri it might be plausible.

And? Many cars make do with less.

eh, it ain’t all that quick in the Fiesta. nevermind a 3,600 lb Mustang. At least in the Fiesta you can do that whole “drive a slow car fast” thing.

Make do? No thanks. Now a 2 liter twin turbo i6 with 270 hp, or 4 liter quad turbo v12 withh 500+ hp? Yes please
